And the battle went on and on and...
I took my 9th level Necro/Monk character and 3rd level Alesia last night into Charr land "just to see what happens", and we handily defeated over 50 charr after all was said and done (expert pulling, lol).
On the way back, we ran into 2 overseers and fought for over 20 minutes with no victor! Alesia did a great job healing me and I kept Healing Breeze on her and of course the overseers kept healing themselves, so it went on and on. My necro/monk can deal over 110 points of damage every full energy bar, but I only had a crappy 6-8 dmg sword for hand to hand (I also had a few staffs that did 5-7 damage, but with the sword, I had a protection icon that gave me a lot of health, armor and energy. I used life syphon to drain their health then dropped all my damage skills on them and their health bar would get to almost 0, then they'd heal and it would start all over again. Any suggestions for strategy against 2 overseers when a tank isn't available? Bragg Last edited by Bragg Madaxe; Aug 08, 2005 at 01:04 PM // 13:04.. |

Fort Ranik mission?
Try bringing the minion spell.. and as you kill the things leading up to the 2 overseer's.. summinion minion's. the extra damage they can pile onto the overseer's will easily over-power their healing.. even with 2 overseer's healing each other & themselves. just remember to keep degen on them. and focus attack's on just 1 at a time. also try timing a big attack spell right when they are low on health and look to be casting healing.. make sure it's a quick shot spell.. that will probably put them over the edge and dead if you time it right. Also try beinging Orion. he rocked for taking out 2 standing still overseer's... no celebratory forestorm there! heehehehe! |

Corpses (except for bosses) disappear after a while. Furthermore only 1 necro spell may be used per corpse. You can't cast well of blood and then summon bone minion on the same corpse.

You can tell if you can use a corpse if it still has color. If it is a dark, charcoal color then it either has been used or is unusable.

I solo'd a monk Charr out in the breach for a good half hour when I was exploring out there. Good times.

youre gonna need to grasp the fact that this game was not designed or intended to be solo'd or duo'd. not to say it isnt possible... but it requires very specific builds, class combinations etc. and likely you will have to respec for many different parts of the game. it can be done, but its more trouble than its worth. |

Sounds like all you really needed was a good, reliable interrupt.

To do it alone, you really need to bring special skills for that purpose. For instance, things like Scourge Healing.
Taking down enemy healers can be a difficult thing, if not very dangerous to yourself. But if you only have a monk for a companion, you'll need something for this purpose. It really depends on your class. Mesmers can bring things like Backfire or interrupts (Power Leak is excellent here). Necromancers have a few skills available to them at some points for this, such as Mark of Subversion (counter the next spell target casts on an ally, -and- steal some health). Elementalists can hoard up their energy and then drop a quick, careful series of DOT attacks which will hopefully overwhelm the enemies defenses. Warriors can't do much unless they use hammers for knockdown / interrupt. Rangers can try to Distracting Shot the healing spells. Monks ... well, they have Scourge Healing. =) Any of these methods still might fall short if you are the only attacker against multiple healers, though. But that shouldn't surprise you: One guy can't defeat two, a lot of the time. |
